JACC NorCal Conference

November 15, 2011

As noted earlier, Skyline College Journalism attended the JACC NorCal Conference this past Saturday, Nov. 12 at Sac State.  The students got to hear on-point advice during the keynote speech from the Sacramento Bee’s Jon Ortiz, who covers state workers issues.  The crew also attended workshops on everything from using PhotoShop effectively to using social media to media law to shooting pictures for AP’s daily wire.  All in all, a worthwhile day was had by all.

Oh!  And the staff won some awards, too. 🙂

Skyline View staffers and their adviser attended the Fall 2011 JACC NorCal Conference held at Sac State.

Listen to Robyn and Dean talking about their awards and what it meant to them.

Aside from their awards, the staff clinched another General Excellence in Online Journalism for their Skyline View website, and Joe Barrack, our opinions editor, tried his hand at an on-the-spot competition, taking home an honorable mention in–what else?–opinion writing.

Have you ever won an award from JACC? What in and what did it mean to you?

This post was edited May 23, 2012 to correct an error in the date the conference was held.
